Line of work: Grant writing
Details: Mezclada worked in partnership with the University, PRAIRIE, and Great Plains Food Bank staff to craft a winning grant proposal to the Minnesota Department of Agriculture for their Local Food Purchase Assistance Program. This required several scoping and working calls, originally intended to provide strategic direction for the Center for Family Development, and ultimately resulted in turning in a completed, state-level grant application, bringing $100,000 to West Central Minnesota to increase the procurement of local foods for area farmers. One of Mezclada’s key contributions was a diagram that outlined how all of the partners were aligned and options that farmers had for their level of participation, depending on the level of engagement they wanted to play in distribution and transportation.
