Writing to grow

A bilingual workshop series for aspiring authors, bloggers, and creatives ready to share their voice.

About Your Instructor

I’m passionate about helping others tell their story and creating a supportive community of writers.

Hi, I’m Emily Reno—writer, facilitator, and founder of Mezclada. I created this workshop series because I know firsthand how hard it can be to start writing when you’re juggling a million other things… and how powerful it is when you finally do.

I’ve spent the last decade helping changemakers, farmers, creatives, and community leaders bring bold ideas to life—on the page and in the world. My background is in urban planning and food systems, but writing has always been the thread that connects everything I do. I’ve published articles, served as a professional grant writer with a 75% success rate, managed a travel blog, and coached entrepreneurs to clarify their vision through storytelling.

This space isn’t about writing the “right” way. It’s about creating a supportive, bilingual community where your story matters and your process is honored. Whether you’re here to write your first blog post or your fifth book, I’m here to walk beside you—and to share tools that make the journey more easeful, strategic, and joyful.

Schedule and format

First Workshop: Saturday, May 31st | 10:00-11:30 a.m. Mexico City Central Standard Time

About Our partner and host, Centro para los Adolescentes de San Miguel de Allende A.C. (CASA A.C.)

C.A.S.A. is a non-profit organization legally established in Mexico that, since 1981, has been dedicated to improving the living conditions of the most vulnerable population through interventions in health, education, and culture, promoting respect for human rights with a gender perspective.

Using a youth-to-youth model, the lives of hundreds of thousands of people have been impacted and public policies have been advocated to drive structural change.

They offer programming ranging from a mobile and community library program to a parteras program, helping keep the culture of natural births alive, to Ranchero Pandillero, which has a recording studio and an art studio where young people can express themselves freely and continue to grow the peace movement.

What to expect in the kickoff session

  • Community Building
Meet your fellow writers in a relaxed space. Each person will share what’s been holding them back and what kind of writing project they’re dreaming about—whether it’s a book, a blog, or publication-ready pieces.
  • Mini Workshop: Writing + Behavioral Psychology
Learn how our habits, subconscious beliefs, and daily routines affect our ability to write. You’ll leave with practical tips to build momentum and stop self-sabotaging your creative process, explore ways to tap into your intuition and subconscious, and develop a writing schedule that fits your personality type.

  • Goal Mapping in Small Groups
Collaborate with your peers to draft a personalized writing action plan. Get clear on:

    1. What you want to create

    2. Why it matters

    3. When you’ll do it

    4. What resources you’ll need

Registration is easy. Just send a WhatsApp message to Gary at Biblioteca Rosario Castellanos to secure your spot before they fill up!

Why I Created This

Why should assistance in writing a book just be limited to the farming community? This in-person workshop series was inspired to take my online YouTube Series, From Field to Freelance – out into the world. Yes, I miss hugs and smiles that don’t come from a screen.

Ultimately, this series is part of Mezclada’s mission to make creative and professional development more accessible, rooted in community and cultural relevance. We believe everyone has a story to tell—and we’re here to help you write yours.
