30-Day Radical Rest Challenge: Day 4

Today’s task: Go to bed early

There’s something lovely and kind of sad about fall here in Minnesota. As the days get shorter, the heaviness in your eyes and your body starts to kick in around 7 p.m. instead of 10 p.m. The sun starts setting and you feel like not making plans late in the evening anymore.

I wonder sometimes if one of the reasons why people in the Upper Midwest go so hard in the summer time is that people actually adjust their schedules with the seasons and scale back. They aren’t filling every single moment.

I’ve felt a shift in the last few weeks here, and I’m not sure if it’s because kids are back in school or it’s the temperature drop, but I sense that people are settling down a bit. Not so chaotic. I’m loving every minute of it.

So today’s task is a simple one, but perhaps not so simple if you’re experiencing pressure from others around you to stay awake. Try going to bed a bit earlier than you would normally. Maybe it’s a half hour, maybe it’s a full hour.

I’m writing this post so excited to wake up energized tomorrow, knowing that I will have gotten a bit more zzz’s than normal.

Good luck!
